Clive Brook Volvo in Bradford has been crowned the ‘Most Improved Dealership of the Year’, ahead of five other shortlisted nominees, at one of the biggest award ceremonies in the retail motor industry.
Hosted by award-winning TV and radio presenter, Colin Murray, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 12 July, the Motor Trader Awards 2017 had a record number of entries and finalists, spanning across 22 categories, which rewards the best-performing companies and individuals in the UK motor trade.
Before an audience of over 1,100 people, Clive Brook Bradford, located on Canal Road, received the coveted accolade for ‘Most Improved Dealership of the Year’ having impressed the judging panel with its management driven change, business strategy and profit growth, even after securing a second Clive Brook Volvo site in Huddersfield in 2015.
Managing director, Clive Brook, had the vision of one day owning his own Volvo dealership when he was an apprentice technician with the franchise. Since securing the seven-figure funding to buy Bradford Volvo in 2008, the performance in the past two years in particular has been excellent with a 275% improvement in net profit between 2015 and 2016.
Underpinning this success was a healthy contribution of aftersales income, more than 10% of it from pre-sold service plans.
Clive Brook commented: “For me, servicing is a retention tool, it drives everything else. We reached a long-term goal in 2016 of achieving 75% absorption, highest on one and two-year-old cars, but still close to 60% on older vehicles. That is the improvement that I’m proudest of achieving.
“The success and turnaround of Bradford however wouldn’t have been achieved without the efforts of the entire dealership team, whom I am immensely proud of, where six of the original 14 employees are among the 37 that now work at Bradford,” he added.
